The new Mr. Darcy
The end of the most intense semester of my graduate school career has left me with precious free time which I use very indulgently. I have seen this move 3 times in the last week.
You know that scene in the end of the 3rd video of the A & E Pride and Prejudice? Elizabeth Bennett is singing "Voi Che Sappette" from the Marriage of Figuero in Pemberly and the scene begins with Mr. Darcy staring at her with an adoration that fills the room. Prince Albert is the new Mr. Darcy. Maybe it's just because Albert's gentle devotion reminds me of my husband, but without fail, the movie leaves me feeling like a woman who can love someone intensely when it's done.

I wish I was better about reading your blog, but anyway...I loved this movie too! I loved how they loved each other, so sweetly, so gently, so completely devoted. I know what you mean about having the feeling that you could be more intensely loving and devoted. I kept the movie in my Instant Queue for a few weeks just because I wanted to be able to watch it whenever I wanted.
ReplyDeleteYeah, it's still accessible on my wii Netflix program. Although, about the fifth viewing, it began to seem a little less magical :)
